Sebastian Cowan was born and raised in the North West of England in 1985. With the ambition to be an established British filmmaker, he is currently pursuing the start of his career in London. From the age of 14, Sebastian began making experimental shorts, skits and music videos. Graduating in Media Arts (BA) at Royal Holloway, University of London in 2007, the undergraduate course enabled him to produce a showreel of work that would be his ticket into the London Film School the following term.
Recently, Sebastian has been writing short dramas for upcoming pitches within his course. He is one of three filmmakers belonging to Push It Films, a film-band that have recently remade Jurassic Park, Superman, and The Dark Knight, with no budget and in less than three minutes. Known as ‘Sweded Cinema’, these shorts have gained the trio global exposure and an appearance in Total Film magazine. Since 2005, Sebastian has directed four short films, two TV commercials and co-directed one music video alongside three ‘Sweded’ films.
Starting as a production runner at 15 years old, Sebastian now works part-time at The Moving Picture Company in Soho, whilst attending film school. Due to graduate from LFS in early 2010, Sebastian is taking on as many projects as possible to help compile an impressive showreel in preparation for the ‘real world’.
