The Magic Lantern – Glasgow
- Wed 9 May, 7.30pm @ Centre of Contemporary Arts, Glasgow
- 350 Sauchiehall Street
- 0141 352 4900
- Tickets: £5/£3
The Magic Lantern is a Glasgow-based independent short film night that showcases innovative films by emerging and established talent, combined with question and answer sessions with filmmakers, writers, and programmers. Each month we screen a diverse selection of shorts grouped together by theme, genre, or type of filmmaker. We support short film as a valid art form in its own right, and not just as a prelude to feature filmmaking.
Our next programme will screen shorts related to sound and music. Including films by Esther Johnson, Matt Hulse, Lenka Clayton, and a selection from the LUX catalogue. Full programme available here.

Each season we'll be screening films broadly linked by a common theme and promote 3-4 film nights, mediated by critic discussion, world music, food and drinks.
Our next screening, part of Season 2: Perspectives, will showcase award-winning shorts from UK and regional talent and from famous filmmakers such as Mira Nair from Monsoon Wedding and Alejandro González Iñárritu from Amores Perros and Babel, among many others. Full programme available here.
