Their DepicT! films may have been short and sweet, but that's not all they've got going on... The DepicT! '06 filmmakers have been up to some exciting things since we saw them at Encounters last year, so we thought we'd share them with you:
Ruth Meehan (live action winner for And the Red Man Went Green) had a very busy year so far, making some documentaries and programmes in Ireland for Irish television. She also recently attended the Moonstone Directors lab with her first feature film, West Of Eden, which she’s hoping to make later this year.
We’re really pleased that Ruth has agreed to serve as a judge for this year’s DepicT! competition… the rest of the panel will be announced soon, so keep an eye on this space!
Leigh Hodgkinson (animation winner, Flighty) just returned from Annecy Animation Festival, where Flighty was screening.
We’re also excited that Leigh has agreed to be a judge for DepicT! ’07!
After DepicT! ’06, Joseph Pierce's Big on Love went on to screen at the Halloween Festival in London and has been requested for further festivals in the UK and North America (including the St. Louis International Film Festival, which serves as a qualifying event for the Oscars®).
Joseph’s been further developing the loose rotoscoping style used in Big on Love, which he’s now using it for his graduation film at the National Film and Television School. A whole 6 minutes, it's due to emerge early next year.
Max Hattler (Everything Turns) has recently been signed as a director at Bermuda Shorts, and he’ll also continue to teach animation at Goldsmiths for the next year. His film Collision has been included in the tank.tv dvd ‘fresh moves’, which will be launched at the ICA on 28 June. He’ll also be presenting a collection of his films and videos including, a new film, Drift, and promo, Economy Wolf: Mount Allen, in Ulm, Germany. And if you’re going to the Big Chill, be sure to check out his VJ set with Run Wrake.

Henrik Dahle (The Equater Complex) has been writing a play for the stage, The Last Line, which is being produced for theatre in the autumn and will ultimately be adapted for the screen.
He’s also recently released a collection of 13 shorts on, including last year’s DepicT! shortlisted entry The Equater Complex. To purchase, and for more of Henrik’s work, visit gauntlettandson.com
Chris Vincze’s film Evol (which, in addition to his DepicT! film The Starers Go Mental, screened at last year’s Encounters) has gone on to win a platinum award at WorldFest, as well as First Place in the Student Filmmakers Summer Shorts competition, and was a finalist in the Kodak Short Film Showcase.

Mike Chan (From Light to Light in the Night) has just finished an MA in Communication Design at Central Saint Martin, and his degree show is on in the Mall Galleries through 21 June.
