David Gilbert, The Picnic

Filmmaker Profile

David Gilbert

David Gilbert was born in Bristol and, after 12 years living in the picturesque town of Kidderminster, moved back there to study Graphic Design at UWE. He is currently pursuing the animation route in his third year, allowing him to combine together his main interests: drawing, film and music.

This is the second film he's made; at the start of the year he entered the student D&AD awards with an animated video for Thom Yorke's song The Clock, however it didn't win, sadly.

His influences, artistically, consist mainly of the abstract and the surreal, Asian cinema, the music of Radiohead (and the affiliated art of Stanley Donwood), the TV series Spaced, and the depressing state of the world. Aside from art, he watches cricket, eats vegetarian food and plays his guitar.
