The DepicT! ‘10 Showcase takes place as a part of Encounters 16th International Film Festival this Saturday 20 Nov at 14:30 in Watershed Cinema 3
DepicT! calls upon talented emerging filmmakers to show their stuff in just 90 seconds or less. Chosen from just under 400 films submitted from 39 countries, the 15 films on this year’s shortlist stand out for their originality, imagination and ability to engage and are now in the running for the main DepicT! Award of £1500, the DepicT! British Special Mention Award – a special package of support from BAFTA, the British Council and the National Film and Television School as well as the DepicT! Shooting People Audience Award.
This big screen premiere of the shortlist and Q&A with some of the filmmakers is hosted by Shooting People head honcho James Mullighan. We also welcome a panel of industry guests to discuss the possibilities and pitfalls of the ultra-short format including DepicT! British Special Mention Award recipients Sam Firth (DepicT! ’09, I.D.) and Michael Davies (DepicT! ’08, What’s Virgin Mean?). They’re both back at this year’s Encounters Internation Film Festival with stories to tell and shorts in competition (The Worm Inside, BEST OF BRITISH 2 & Love At First Sight, BEST OF BRITISH MADE IN THE SOUTH WEST). They are joined by Jeremy Routledge of Calling the Shots and Mini Masterpieces and Matt Golding of Rubberductions.
This year’s judges are meeting this Friday at the Encounters Festival to decide on the winners of the main DepicT! Award and the DepicT! British Special Mention Award but there’s still time for you to help decide the DepicT! Shooting People Audience Award. Just watch any of the films in the this year’s shortlist before 17:00hrs on Sat 20 Nov to rate each film. The film with the highest overall rating will win – simple as that!
