With over 1,100 submissions from over 88 different countries, this year’s Depict, Watershed’s super short filmmaking competition as part of Encounters Film Festival (27 Sept – 2 Oct) as had an incredibly diverse range of films to choose from.
The eighteen shorts selected are now up for multiple awards and prizes which will be chosen by the Depict 2022 Jury during Encounters Festival. We need your help to decide the outcome of the Depict Audience Award. In partnership with Encounters, the winner will receive a full festival pass to Encounters Festival 2023 and a lifetime membership to Shooting People. This prize is chosen entirely by the public through voting on depict.org open until Thu 29 Sept 20:00 BST. There’s a massively varied selection to choose from and we’d love to hear your responses in the comments section of each film.
The Depict 2022 Jury will gather at Encounters Festival to award this year’s much coveted Depict prizes – the main Depict Award of £1,500, the Royal Photographic Society Award of £1,000, the Depict British Award, a talent development package supported by BFI NETWORK, NFTS, BAFTA and the Depict Random Acts Award, priceless exposure and mentoring courtesy of Channel 4 Random Acts.

Look out for the Depict Showcase & Awards Ceremony taking place at Watershed on Thu 29 Sept 19:30 as part of Encounters Festival.
This is a chance to experience the films collectively on the big screen and meet the Depict team and some of the talent behind the films. You will also be the first to find out who has picked up an Award and can join in the Depict Networking Drinks sponsored by Korev after the showcase.
